Forms and Photographs from the Mountain World by zai
Location: Pontisella Stampa
The exhibition is a collaboration between zai's Benedikt Germanier and photographer and architect Kaspar Thalmann and their exploration of the mountain world. In the midst of the Alps, movement meets rugged material and craftsmanship meets aesthetics. Visitors are invited to observe, experience and touch.
The mountain is the origin and the centre. On its flanks, ski enthusiasts search for their own line. zai gives them the tools for this search. Founded exactly 20 years ago, zai represents the pinnacle of design, material, technology and manufacturing in the ski world. Strictly according to its own philosophy, zai follows clearly defined design criteria and forms. Only in this way can zai lead the way with unique product design and demands for quality, feel and emotion.
Whether avalanche protection structures, reservoirs or mountain landscapes: Kaspar Thalmann stages alpine themes compositionally and is convinced that despite a flood of images and short films, the time-honoured image has retained its charisma. With high demands on image composition, he creates iconographic works that show a different view of everyday things - also in a figurative sense. In his constant search for the "good picture", he strives for factual yet aesthetic images that transcend the fashionable zeitgeist.
The mountain is. It is inspiration as well as a place of refuge and awe. In design as well as in photography, we can approach it, work on it - but it will always outlive us. The exhibition seeks to visualise it in its concrete and playful realisation. But it also offers a starting point for going into the mountain world.
We will meet on the evening of 23 december and spend a 2 day ski experience at Hotel Beausite. Together we will experience an introduction to zai's 2024 world and enjoy the slopes and culinary on the mountain. zai's Benedikt and his team will bring the latest developments of the company. Together we explore what is and what will be. Our ultimate goal is to make you a better skier. In the spirit of what is written in our poem: zai finds the line - that the mountain...
